I walked by Jim Morrison’s house this past weekend.
Pictures of The Doors’ front man were posted in the windows facing the street. Out-of-towners who notice might think wow, the people who live here must really love Jim Morrison.
The locals know better. The house is Jim’s first home.
Take a peek at the lesser known Florida tourist site and also, baby Jim and his parents on the beach here.
I tell you that to tell you about my story “Finding Jim Morrison” published by Rind Literary Magazine, Issue 12 (February 12, 2019).

This long form fiction took me six months to write, about the same amount of time Jim and his family lived locally.
Myself a true pantser, actually plotted this piece and attended a collectible car show (or few) to research one of the main characters: a 1948 Buick Roadmaster.
The car has unique features featured in the story.

“Finding Jim Morrison” begins on page 34.
Thank you, editors of Rind Literary Magazine for publishing my work
.
My writing has since changed dramatically as far as length. Presently, it’s more about the moment than many moments. I drop the reader in, then usher the reader out in a hurry. Flash is fun that way.
I’ve come to embrace the micro flash. I’m talking small bits, like Chiclet gum, which also seems to have become smaller over the years.
I like to thank editor Steve Gergley for the recent publish of my tiny micro “Whipped” at Scaffold Literary Magazine (November 20, 2024).
Read the story here and consider subbing yourself. Be part of the excitement building at Scaffold.
Be safe out there. The traffic is Christmas crazy.
